BabyBjorn Synergy Carrier

One item that we got prior to our little ones arrival was a BabyBjorn Synergy Carrier. With so many different carriers on the market, from slings, to the traditional carrier like the Baby Bjorn, we were a bit dumbfounded as to what carrier to get. Because of the history of the Baby Bjorn, we were pretty confident that because of it's longevity on the market, it would be a good investment for a new family.

Since his arrival we've tested many slings, but the Baby Bjorn was by far, the easiest to comprehend and get used to. I really adore this carrier.

I walked into the kitchen this afternoon to see my husband sporting the Bjorn (with baby in it) and he looked at me and said..."I have 2 hands free now!" (Something that you definitely don't have after baby arrives) It was actually VERY sweet to see him carrying our little one, and excited about a product.

We immediately went for a walk around our neighbourhood, loving the fact that we could hold hands, and our little one was content (fell asleep RIGHT away) There was no stroller to get set up, we had all of our hands free, and were able to do a little power walk around the neighbourhood.

(Above) Fell asleep right away!

(Above) Front view, our little one all snuggled up

You see, our little one loves to be carried, I mean, what baby doesn't.

What I love about this carrier is that first of all, my husband wanted to put it on right away. So, although I love it, my husband loves it too - which is awesome, as it lets me have a wee break, but allows, more importantly, some bonding time between the two of them. Any product that is unisex is awesome in my mind and makes it that much more worth the investment.

Secondly I love it because it was so easy to figure out how to use. And I'm saying this as a sleep deprived Mom, that is baffled at the simplest of things these days. And would likely break into tears at any frustration (has happened). So a product that helps me, and is easy, scores some points.

Third reason why I love it was it gave us free hands. We were able to accomplish some things
Getting baby in was REALLY easy, as was getting him out. It was as simple as unbuckling one button and gently getting him out, without waking him.

Fourth reason....I got to kiss the top of his head all the time, something I couldn't do while he was in his stroller. There is something about having him so close to kiss that makes my heart melt.

We're likely going to have a number of different carriers over the next year, but the Baby Bjorn carrier I know will be getting a lot of use, from me, and from my husband. It's VERY much worth the investment. I love it!!

A+++

One gift I received after our little one arrived was a set of 4 Aden & Anais Muslin Swaddle blankets. I am now obsessed. They are my favourite blankets for our little one. They are so soft, made from 100% cotton muslin, and they are large...which makes swaddling so much easier, but also, the blankets I have found make for amazing stroller covers when we walk. -Lindsay

Glider in Nursery

One of the purchases we debated for a long time on this end, was the purchase of a Glider. Now that we have our son, I have to tell you - I simply ADORE the fact that we ended up getting one. This glider is SOOOO comfy. It doesn't scream "baby" and it cushions all of the parts that are aching right now after birth. ;) I can easily curl up with our baby, sush him to sleep and read him some nursery rhymes.

So, if you're looking for a glider that will fit with your decor long after baby, consider the BEST chairs at Dear-Born (Lots of styles to pick from and fabrics). And if you're debating getting a glider for your nursery....if you have the room, I definitely recommend it. :) We adore ours, and I know it will have a LOT of use in the upcoming years!

Safety 1st High Definition Colour Video Monitor

Picking a Monitor By Lindsay

I realized last week that I had forgotten one big item on our baby checklist - our Baby Monitor. I started to research which monitors would be best. Truthfully, budget always plays a bit of a role on our selection, but I also know that you get what you pay for - and sometimes it's cheaper in the long run to buy the best upfront, then to buy something you hate, only to go and want to replace it months down the road. I really fell in love with the Summer Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor Set. We had bought this monitor as a group gift a year ago for a family member and they LOVED it but since we are buying baby stuff on our own, it was difficult to sell ourselves on. (But awesome group gift!!!) I had told myself that a video monitor was out of our budget, and started researching other models. BUT, then I saw the Safety 1st High Definition Colour Video Monitor that was originally $319.99 but get this....it's on sale for 50% off!! Only $159.99!!! Done!

Above, we put the video portion on the dresser in our nursery. It's pretty discreet, and is focused on the crib that is just on the other side of the closet.

So there are 2 parts - the Video Camera (Left) and the Handheld video monitor (right) that is the size of an Ipod, that has rechargeable batteries, but also plugs in, which we have placed on our bedside tables.

Super Simple. Just hold the ON button and....

Full colour, amazing at picking up sound, and fits into the palm of our hand. It also comes with a belt clip which we love!

We loved this model because of the price, and the compact size. One thing I thought of, is when we go to my parents we can easily take the video camera off the dresser in the nursery, and bring it with us. It's small, lightweight, and has amazing quality. And at 50% off it was PERFECT!

Article from an Expert } What to look for in a nursing bra

“What to look for in a nursing bra”
By Alison Kramer, Owner of Nummies

There is nothing like the experience of expecting a new baby. Such an exciting time filled with wonder, and excitement. Pregnancy is also a time filled with questions and unknowns. What will it be like to have a baby? Do we have all the things we need to welcome our little one home? What can we do, read, learn to prepare?

Truly the list is endless. The great thing for you is that there are so many amazing resources available to you. You really will be ready to be a new parent!

For my part, I would love to share with you a little bit about nursing bras and how to find the right bras for you. First, simply look at three things: Fit, Function and Fashion. These three simple things will help you choose the right bra for you.

Fit is probably the most important. When you are nursing, your breast size can fluctuate many times during the day. Remember this when you are trying on bras; consider when you last fed your baby and also leave room for a nursing pad. Fit should always be comfortable and supportive. Today nursing bras are made in the highest quality fabrics to provide you with the quality of fit that you need.

How is a nursing bra different from a regular bra? (a question I am asked A LOT by the way). Well, a nursing bra does something! Along with all of the things a regular bra does, it has some unique functions related to helping make breastfeeding easier and more comfortable.

Your nursing bra will be used countless times. Strong clips, easy to adjust straps are critical. Some nursing bras open from snaps or zippers at the centre or below the cup, while others open at the top of the cup. There are soft cup bras designed to be lifted above the breasts or pushed to the side. The choice is yours, since all openings have their benefits and offer variety.

More important than where the opening is found, is the ease of opening and the quality and strength of the clip, zipper, or snap. The bra will be opened many many times—and it is very important that you be able to unfasten and fasten the bra easily, since you will often be doing so with your hands full.

Lastly, fashion cannot be overlooked. You can have a beautiful nursing bra! There are many options for fashion. Fabric types, color, and bras that have lace and other accents are wonderful. Have a look around and find a bunch of bras that are beautiful, comfortable and make you feel great.
